June 09. 2003 - Eastern Europe made it today | Please send your comments/reports/log-sheets/audios to DK5YA

At early morning MUF was very high from Mid-Europe to the east. RZ6BU had DL and OE broadcast up to 108 MHz early, that looked promising. At 0815 UT first loud and long burst from UR to YU and S5 and at 08.33 UT UR5LX was into YU on 144 and few minutes later into S5 too. Little later the band was wide open to UR and UA6 from F, DL, S5, YU, OE, OK and SP to UR, UA6 and few UA3 too. Pity that so many UR were on 50 MHz and didn't want to QSY to 144. UA6 even was heard into PA0. Later another cloud formed above SP and we had short openings from HB9 and DL into OH while LA, OZ and SM was into YU,  LZ and S5. Band closed at 10.37 UT.
Next (huge!) 144 MHz opening started at 15:15 UT when UA6 was into UA1 and UA3 and UA4 into LY. Later UA4 was into UB5 and LZ while LY made UN (>2.400 km in FM!). The cloud was moving west now and SP made UA4 also. Back east OH and ER made a huge amount of UA4 and UA6 on FM, was hard to read the cluster spots here in DL. By the way, MUF was very high, >200 MHz. Opening lasted until app. 17.10 UT.
Involved DXCC today: F, DL, OZ, SM, LA, OH, OK, SP, OE, S5, YU, LZ, ER, ES, UR, UA3, UA4, UA6, UN.

1) Good copy but then DG2... calling CQ on .300, therefore impossible to work. Why do people think it is mandatory to call cq only on .300?
2) no OHs audible here and also ES2CM only 15 seconds

Heard but didn't call (all wkd b4) UA6MA, RZ6BU, UT2IO, UR5GIM. Again very unexperienced OP's on 300 calling CQ endless and chatting local even in FM! Calling me something  when I asked for QSY. 144 is getting worse....

After 19 years my first Es-QSO's :-). I was busy on 370 working FSK when I saw a spot in the cluster: So I went to .300 were UA6MA was pretty weak in CW. Called him and made it easily when he suddenly was 59. Deep and verx fast QSB.

I had to work today but after I checked the internet cluster
and saw all those nice openings at around 09:00UTC I have
chosen to take a break and hurried home.
The UA-opening was over but suddenly OH1AYQ appeared for a new SQR. The audio recording I started after my QSO during a no-taker-sequence of him.

The opening this morning was short to UA and .300 overcrowded with calling stations, so far so good, but then a local OE station started calling cq Es on .300 without listening carefully and irrespective that other Ops
also want to work calling UA's. Unfortunately the discipline is becoming worse and worst.

I'm very lucky !!!!!, after 2 years of brake I'm back on 144MHz.  Just on Saturday I put 13element Yagi on my mast. (Good idea! Ed.) Today I came back home, abt 15utc.
I watched BC band 68-72mhz was full of russian radio stations. Suddenly I heard RV3RA, later I monitored band. Several more FM stations were heard.
